Our Lumi Ribbed Bikers are part of our new activewear collection called North. This collection is inspired by the rough but resistant nature we have here in the north where Lilja the Label is from. We wanted to celebrate the gorgeous autumn hues Northern Europe offers when seasons change. Lumi, the name we gave the white variation of these items, is a Finnish word for snow. In fact, we have over 40 words for snow in Finnish, so where should we even start?! Depending on where in Finland you are, the first snow usually falls sometime between October and December bringing some light into the polar night – and in the north, the snow stays well into the beginning of the summer.
These shorts have a flattering high waistline, an elastic on the waist to make sure they stay where they should, and double fabric for added support and coverage. Combine these shorts with the matching ribbed crop or any of our other items. The fabric used in this collection is regenerated from plastic waste collected from our oceans, so by purchasing this top, you not only look good but help cleaning out our oceans and giving these waste plastics a new life.

The fabric used in our activewear collection 'North' is Econyl, a nylon yarn regenerated from discarded waste plastics, such as fishing nets and plastic bottles collected from our oceans. These post-consumer waste plastics are given a new life in form of our activewear through a process that involves breaking down the nylon polymer into monomers, then regenerating the nylon into a new yarn. The breakdown process is done with only temperature and steam, without the use of harmful chemical agents, in a renewable energy-driven process. Reusing nylon to make Econyl reduces the environmental impact of nylon by 80% compared with the material produced from crude oil.
- You can machine wash your activewear at 40*c
- Do not tumble dry - it weakens the stretchy fabric
- Dry in shade to avoid fading
- Wash with similar colours to avoid discolouration
- Watch out for rough surfaces, zippers, bra clasps and buttons
